The Business Problem
The client operated a Quarterly Business Review platform serving multiple customer organizations within a shared product environment. As the platform scaled, strong multi-tenancy and role-based access control became critical.
However, the legacy system was built on Drupal, making it difficult to enforce clean tenant separation, flexible access control, and secure data boundaries across different customer scopes. This created growing complexity, slower delivery, and increased risk around data access.
The Challenge
The platform required a stronger technical foundation that could support secure multi-tenant operations without exposing data across customer, organization, or user-level scopes.
- Enforcing strict tenant-level data isolation.
- Implementing strong role-based access control across different user types.
- Moving away from a difficult-to-maintain legacy architecture.
- Reducing the risk of data leakage between business scopes.
- Creating a cleaner foundation for future product development.
Eldu's Approach
Eldu Labs refactored the platform using a modern MVC-based architecture, rebuilding the frontend in React, the backend in NestJS, and the database layer on PostgreSQL.
A key focus of the engagement was enforcing multi-tenancy controls at the database and backend layers, rather than relying only on application-level checks. This helped create stronger separation between tenants and reduced the risk of unauthorized cross-scope data access.
The new architecture introduced clearer separation of concerns, improved maintainability, and gave the client a stronger foundation to scale the product securely.
Strategic Outcome
"By replacing a restrictive legacy system with a modern, tenant-safe architecture, Eldu Labs helped the client strengthen data security, improve maintainability, and prepare the platform for scalable B2B SaaS growth."
